Elaine’s Scary Halloween Story: My Best Friend

I didn’t know my friend was a ghost until she killed me with a closet. This may sound strange but let me tell you how it happened. I moved to Westwood last summer and I was new and lonely. I couldn’t find any friends to play with because of my weird Australian accent, at least not until the month before Halloween. Starting from the 1st day of October, this strange-looking girl dressed in black would constantly stand in front of my house and stared at me with her dark, empty eyes. I was a bit scared, but I chose to talk to her due to my curiosity and ended up spending most of my time with her. I was the one who would usually talk, and she just listened with a smile on her face. I told her every single secret I had but she never told me anything about herself. She said she would show me everything on Halloween. Finally, on the 31st of October, she took me to her house as promised.

I was so excited, and I told my mother that I would go to my friend’s house for the very first time since I moved to Westwood, but when I introduced my mom to her, she seemed worried and confused. Anyways, we went across the dark forest and I saw a typical, tiny wooden house. My friend suddenly started to talk!

She said her parents were killed by an arsonist when she was 12 years old and her uncle took care of her until now. I didn’t feel sorry for her because she was smiling when she told me all the terrible things that happened to her family. It was weird because everything in the house was covered with dust and the house was lifeless. Finally, we went into her room, she forced me to sit on her bed and listen to her speak. I felt that something was not right, so I asked her if I could use her bathroom. I went down the hall to find the bathroom and heard someone yelling, I followed the voice and entered a dark room which had a wall covered with photos of me since the first day I got here! Then an old couple showed up in the air, their faces were burned and their hands were chained together. “Run!”, they roared. The old woman said, ”My child is sick, she has unresolved problems and her next target is you!” I freaked out as I heard my friend calling for me. I just wanted to run away from this place, so I rushed out of the room and tried to find a way out. I heard her yelling, “Why are you running?” I ignored her and I finally found the front door. Just as I was about to escape, the girl appeared in front of me. “I got you!”, she screamed, a closet fell on me, and I passed out. “Now, you are one of us.”
